Ginza, Japan: Where old European luxury meets avant-garde

By Lucky People Autor / Chanel Manager

Ginza is a metaphor for contemporary Japanese fashion. World-class restaurants and luxury European stores such as Hermès or the famous MiuMiu flagship in Aoyama designed by Herzog & De Meuron blend with avant-garde and bohemian boutiques, as well as a collection of independent buildings of varying heights and shapes, devoid of a historical tradition or common standards.

It is renowned as a fashionable area, yet it’s also a central district with stores founded over a century ago. Department stores and luxury boutiques line the route from Nihonbashi to here. It has become a tradition to shop and stroll while the street is closed to traffic.
